Holter Recording

Holter monitoring, also known as ambulatory electrocardiography, is a non-invasive diagnostic test used to evaluate and monitor heart activity. It involves wearing a portable electrocardiogram (ECG) device called a Holter monitor, which records the heart’s electrical activity over an extended period, usually 24 to 48 hours.

How Holter Recorder works

Holter monitoring is often used to diagnose heart rhythm abnormalities, which may not be detected during a routine ECG. The test can also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of medications or treatments for these conditions.

During the test, electrodes are attached to the chest, and the Holter monitor is worn in a pouch or attached to a belt. Patients are instructed to carry out their usual activities while wearing the monitor and to keep a diary of any symptoms they experience, such as chest pain, palpitations, or shortness of breath.

After the monitoring period is complete, the data recorded by the Holter monitor is downloaded and analyzed by a healthcare provider, who can then interpret the results and make a diagnosis or recommend further testing or treatment as needed.
