Emergency

Are you having a medical emergency?

If you are experiencing chest pain or shortness of breath, tell the operator immediately. Your call will be given top priority if you are having a medical emergency.

A walk-in urgent clinic is available 9:00am – 3:00pm, Monday through Friday. A nurse will assess your complaints and work you into the clinic schedule, according to the severity of the problem. You will see your cardiologist if he is in the clinic. If he is not, you will be seen by one of his colleagues.

If you are having a severe emergency, such as chest pain that does not get better even after taking your prescribed medication, or are experiencing worsening shortness of breath, you should have someone drive you to the hospital emergency room immediately rather than waiting to hear from your cardiologist.

All of the clinic’s cardiologists have full staff privileges at BSA Hospital and Northwest Texas Hospital.

An emergency room physician will see you and contact your cardiologist if the emergency is a cardiac-related problem. Make sure you ask the emergency room physician to call your AHI cardiologist. The cardiologist on call will be able to see you at either emergency room.
